Like most everything else on earth, pride can be virtuous or it can be adverse.
To take pride in work, school, family, and faith, is a beneficial attribute. Taking the time to perfect work, to cultivate a rich tradition of excellence, to raise a strong, loving family, and to nurture faith, are all examples of pride as a positive asset.
On the other hand, pride can hinder the accomplishment of our goals. Being proud can make us high and mighty, selfish and spiteful. I’m sure you’ve heard the old adage, “Pride goeth before the fall.” It's true, spite gets us into trouble; pride keeps us there.
How we practice our pride dictates whether it is a virtue or a vice.

Yeah, this pretty much applies to me right about now. People can be just "plain stupider" than a doorknob. UGH!
