Lamkin, Texas -- God's Country

The name Lamkin reminds me of lambkin which is a more formal name of a little lamb. The Leon River runs beside Lamkin. Leon is the Spanish name for lion. So, as in Biblical stories, the lion lies down with the lamb. That act symbolizes peace and understanding.

Lamkin truly is God’s country. I’ve always known it. Ever since I was a child, a warmth and sense of sanctuary enveloped me whenever I returned there. It is where I felt most safe and secure.
