Bittersweet

Today marks the end of my twenty-ninth year of teaching. I have to admit that I'm quite excited about summertime. I have taught summer school for the past several years, but I'm not this summer. I'm so excited about having some "me" time.

On the other hand, a very dear friend is retiring this year. She won't be back next year. We have shared many, many long talks. Sometimes we laughed until we cried. Other times we just cried. So, this year-end is bittersweet. With the onset of summer, comes anticipation. With the prospect of next year without my dear friend, comes apprehension. As the saying goes, life will go on just not the same.
