In the unlikely chance that you have not heard, Britney and J. P. found out just yesterday that they are expecting twins. After a long period of scientific and medical intervention, not only are they expecting, but they have twins. Elizabeth (J. P.’s mother) and I accompanied Brit to her appointment yesterday in Bedford knowing that we would probably find out “how many”. Almost as soon as the sonogram began, Dr. Doody (Kathy) said, “Well, there’s two.” Brit began to weep. Even though she knew that we was pregnant from the blood tests and the morning sickness and the slightly-bulging tummy, at that moment, when she saw the babies and heard their heartbeats, it finally became real to her. For me, it was the neatest thing I’d ever witnessed. Modern science is amazing. We could actually see two little dark spaces that are their placentas. Inside each of those were two little “dots”. When Dr. Kathy zoomed in, we could actually see the little fetuses. She amplified their heartbeats and it was just incredible. Next, she turned on the Doppler and we could see their little heartbeats flashing red with each beat. We were awestruck. She measured the one closest and its size was right on target.
They are due January 11, but most say to expect the sooner (come on tax exemptions)! We will have to wait several more weeks before they can tell the gender.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue through this wondrous journey of developing their little family.
